A Taste of Camp Magic
Venture Into The Wilderness
Located at Saltash Mountain Camp on our more than 5,300 acres of undeveloped and conserved woodlands on Lake Ninevah, Spark welcomes campers to their first week of overnight camp at Farm & Wilderness.
Over the course of the week campers will get to experience the core Farm & Wilderness activity areas: Barns & Gardens, Work Projects, Waterfront, Outdoor Living Skills, and Creative Arts. They'll build, explore, get muddy, and face exciting new challenges together!
Campers build a powerful community in nature where everyday adventures await!
Spark is lead by a team of our camp directors: Adair, Director of Ninevah Camps, John, Director of Timberlake, and Clarissa, Director of Firefly Song. Together, they've put together this week-long program of overnight camp, hosted at our Saltash Mountain location and steeped with the activities, traditions, and camp magic that is Farm & Wilderness. Consider our Spark program to be a sampler of our programming to ensure your kiddo is full steam ahead with spending their next summer at Saltash Mountain, Timberlake, or Firefly Song!

Housing: The cabins are all open three-sided wood structures with individual bunks and storage for each camper. As we build community, it’s important each camper still has their space and campers enjoy personalizing their bunk. Families have the option of a girls, boys, or all-gender cabin for their camper.
Facilities: Shared facilities are near each cabin for all their hygiene needs, including fresh water and hot showers.
WHAT OUR FAMILIES SAY
Spark Interest in the Outdoors!
We provide structured activities every day that challenge and delight our campers as they explore the Vermont wilderness
Mornings begin as campers wake up in their three-sided cabins to the sounds of nature! They enjoy breakfast outdoors under the Food Shelter with joyous laughter and singing. After breakfast, they participate in chores for the community and silent meeting, which provides quiet reflection before heading off for morning activities filled with fun and meaningful experiences. Campers will get to experience all F&W activity areas: Barns & Gardens, Work Projects, Outdoor Living Skills, and Creative Arts, using real tools and learning cool skills.
Afternoons are centered around camper choice. After a healthy lunch and rest hour, campers choose a new activity every day. They might go for hike up the nearby mountains, build a birdhouse, join a canoe trip on lake Ninevah, attempt the low ropes course, harvest berries, or lead an activity they've created! Will they take goats on a walk? Make ice cream? Enjoy a game of camouflage in the woods?
Evenings bring a new activity every night as campers get a sampling of the evening activities that our camps have to offer! One evening might be a cabin cookout, and a different evening they may take part in a facilitated conversation to better understand race, gender, identity, and practicing healthy boundaries at camp. Other nights are reserved for spectacular All Camp Games or a celebratory variety show. Finally the glow from flashlights is replaced by the moon as everyone joins their cabin for a bedtime story and to drift off to sleep together.
EXPERIENCE LIFE IN THE OUTDOORS
Activities
Creativity, skill building, and classic camp fun, all in the beautiful Vermont wilderness!
Outdoor Living Skills
Campers learn tree and plant identification, fire building, and knife safety skills through whittling. We teach “leave no trace”, environmentally sound camping to all our campers.
Community Building
Work Projects
Campers help with a variety of building projects learning how to add shingles or saw wood for a cabin. They use their hands to design, measure and build benches, bird houses or other small projects.
Creative Arts
Campers add to the magic of camp expressing themselves in fiber arts, painting, singing, building collages, drawing, performing skits, and more.
Waterfront
Most afternoons include opportunities to enjoy the refreshing waters of crystal clear Lake Ninevah, with time to swim and canoe with friends and staff.
Barns & Gardens
From milking goats to weeding gardens and picking vegetables, campers have the opportunity to learn where their food comes from (and the effort it takes to grow it!).
