We are expecting our first ewe to give birth around Feb 10 or so! This means keeping a close eye on them 7 days a week and being ready to assist if they need help. Lambs can present themselves in the wrong position during labor or two lambs may present at the same time, in either case we would need to help reposition them or else mom and babe could be seriously hurt, or worse. This is just the start of the birthing season, piglets and kids should be arriving later this month and next.

This weather feels like spring and it definitely lifts the spirits. We are starting to think about maple syrup and yesterday I was able to take a walk along the lines to assess what the damage is from all this snow and wind. It’s a gorgeous view over the reservoir with all the leaves off the trees.

More soon!

PS – come to ice cutting to see our baby animals!!
