Barn Day Camp is off to a Great Start! - Farm & Wilderness

Written by Polly Williams | July 05, 2018

Hello All. We are midway through our second session after a packed and super fantastic one-week first session. Week one, the weather was perfect for swim lessons and the rain held off for Adventure Day. This week has been a VT heat wave. We are in the lake A LOT and the gardens are looking great. It got so hot that we’ve had a sprinkler going for a couple of days.

This year, we are lucky to have several BDC alums returning as counselors and many new staff. You will see several male identified counselors and we have 9 counselors of color.

The energy around camp has been wonderful. We have two pigs named Cork and Cap. We also have a bunny named Condor, several chickens, and ducks. Nellie, our goat, is at Tamarack Farm this summer so that they can keep an eye on her after a horn injury. But don’t worry, we have Esther and Clover. Clover, just like Nellie, loves to escape. We also have a chicken that likes to escape and lay eggs in the kybo!?!

We are looking forward to Interdependence Day where we will perform our song. It will start at 6:30 pm on Friday at the BDC. Current Session 2 families are invited to attend. BDC adults are the only ones Interdependence Day is opened to. We ask that if you have kids in the overnight camps, that you keep in mind that not all campers will have their adults there.
