The Greatest Show! - Farm & Wilderness

Written by Tulio Browning | April 05, 2018

The big pieces are falling into place for this summer’s production of Timberlake 2018!!

Each and every summer at Timberlake is an exercise in “Anything Is Possible” thinking.   We are building a community where everyone can find their place to soar, to reach, to tumble, to laugh, and to build.   Every trip into the wilderness, every Council Fire skit, every goat milked or raspberry picked adds to this festival of memories to treasure well after the summer.   As with everything in life, value does not come from the achievement alone, but from the how it was accomplished.   And that “how” depends a great deal upon having a motivated, engaging and patient staff willing to go above and beyond to create memories for a lifetime.

Staff

Who are the staff cast in this role?   Returning campers will remember: Colin, Emery, Ray, Swarkov, Crash, Jamo, Nicco, Frankie, Jesse, Eli, Francis, Dawson, Elmer, Kerry, Sitting Dog, Gus, Gabriel, Zac, Nick, Jacob, Karsten, Leo, Powers, Bello, Kilmer, Ben and several other guest stars.

Our nursing team are all returning: Azar, Jill, Brenda, and Gerri.  To inaugurate our new brand new Kitchen, (it’s not a remodel, we rebuilt the whole building!) we have Juanra, Angel, Panda, M, Anne, and Grace returning to cook with our legacy Head Cook Christian Pruitt.

We love fresh ideas at TL, and new recruits make up about 25% of the staff, with 70% of them former TL campers or friends of current staff.  The few newcomers come mostly from outdoor education programs and colleges we work with.

Staff arrive June 9th and have 19 days to train, bond and build cohesion before campers arrive.

Pre-camp Conversation

We have just sent an email full of useful links to resources.   Some of us really need to just talk to someone rather than read more information.  I’d like to be that someone for you – and I am available.   I have three kids of my own who have all gone to F&W camps and I love talking with parents.   I spent over ten years in a Mediterranean country and expect parents to have lots of questions for the people taking care of their kids.  Fire away!!  Email me at tulio@farmandwilderness.org and we’ll set up a time to talk or call the phone numbers listed in the recent orientation email.
