Hello From Just Off The Trail! - Farm & Wilderness

Written by Jeff Bounds | July 24, 2017

As I write this, the groups are waking up, getting ready to step onto the trail again for another day. The group that is two days ahead, the Robbins group, is on day 12 and mile 81.1 and the second group, the Taylors, are on day 10 and mile 71.6. Both groups are doing very well, sharing lots of laughs, jokes, and learning and growing experiences. Since the first “And we’re off!” The Taylors have had two group members leave for health reasons, but the group is strong and very supportive of each other and those members who decided to leave.

From throwing a Bear Bag rope in one try to easily cooking over fires after long days of many miles, the groups are getting stronger and stronger in their mastery of skills, their physical strength and capabilities and in working together to support each other through the journey. This summer is starting off dramatically with several big rain storms and then switching to bright, sunny, warm days. The questers learned quickly where to pack their rain gear and how best to dry their boots, but laugh and joke about the wet times, thinking of better ways to stay drier next time. Though blisters come and go, both groups are in great shape, practicing self-care and learning good expedition behavior to keep themselves and others safe and happy.

Once I finish this post, I am wrapping up the final details to head back out on the trail for two days with each group and to bring the resupplies of food, gear, clean clothes, and mail!
