Stepping Up at Tamarack Farm Camp 2017 - Farm & Wilderness

Written by Amy Bowen | July 21, 2017

Tonight after dinner several TFers stood around the piano and sang at top of their lungs (after a week of some impressive work).  It’s only been a little over two weeks and there are many teens who are stepping up in big ways.  On Fridays, our teens run the harvest which includes not only harvesting our fresh veggies, but also washing, packing, keeping records, and preparing orders to go to all the kitchens at F&W.

This year, our farm staff have been intentional about stepping back to let the teens step up.  Today I received an email from the Farm Manager saying, they “KILLED it!!”.   The teens here are also working on building a cabin and our art barn.  Over the last two weeks many have stepped up to work on the cabin during afternoon activities as well as our morning work project time, and most of the rafters in the new cabin are already in place.  This coming week we take a break from the work to spend time in the woods, climbing, canoeing, and backpacking (and building new connections).
