An Amazing First Week and a Half - Farm & Wilderness

Written by Polly Williams | July 05, 2017

It’s been a great week and a half of camp so far! We saw a lot of rain in the afternoons of our first week, but that didn’t dampen our fun. Our rain buckets were filled to the rim with water to play with in the sandbox.

We had a mamma Robin with 4 eggs that hatched and all the babies flew off with mom. Our pigs are growing quickly and the bunnies are getting a lot of attention. Nellie the goat is back with us once again and she hasn’t escaped yet!

The lake is beautiful. We’ve seen baby loons, a Great Blue Heron and been visited by Marcia the floating island. Swimming lessons are going well and one group has done tippy-tests in anticipation of their canoe trip. The water is a nice temperature that isn’t too cold or too hot.

Today was our first Topsy-Turvy-Tuesday of the summer. Lots of great activities and, of course, the giant water slide (video below). The weather was beautiful and dancing Zodiac was a lot of fun. Tomorrow our Hawks and Ravens head out for their two-night overnight trip and the rest of camp will head out on Thursday for their overnights.

We have a lot of great staff this summer, many of whom were campers at Farm and Wilderness. They have brought us a lot of great new activities and songs. We even have new words to an old song.
