Adventures of the Questers - Farm & Wilderness

Written by Jeff Bounds | August 10, 2016

Hello! I come to y’all from SAM camp with the final update on the Questers! After canoeing from Maine to New Hampshire, the Questers began hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Starting at Rattle River Shelter on August 1, the group hiked the New Hampshire section of the Appalachian Trail. The Appalachian Trail, or AT, is a hiking trail in the United States extending between Springer Mountain in Georgia and Mount Katahdin in Maine. The trail is known for its difficulty and length, about 2,200 miles long! They ended their hike by summiting Mount Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast at 6,288 feet.

The group then moved on to the climbing portion of the trip! On August 8, they began their climbing at Silver Lake in Vermont.  At first, the group was nervous and intimidated by the height of the rock wall, about 120 feet, but after an introduction to gear and procedure, they were ready! Everyone climbed twice, conquering any fears and misgivings.

While the trip may have come to an end, the lessons and experiences learned along the way will not soon be forgotten! Photos from the hiking as well as the climbing sections of the trip will be posted shortly!

Best,

Codi, Questers Coordinator
