Final Naming and Long Trips! - Farm & Wilderness

Written by Farm & Wilderness | August 06, 2016

Greetings from the Wilderness!

The second session is cruising along and already it’s amazing to think of all that we’ve accomplished in our time together. Giant bow drill, burl harvesting, rod less fishing, raft building and black smithing are just a few of the great activities that counselors and campers alike have led and pursued. Returning and full session campers are doing an admirable job of welcoming all seven of our newest community members, all of whom recently received names at our final Naming Ceremony of the summer. The campers fire-making expertise was apparent as the Naming Fire burned brightly well into the evening despite rain throughout most of the day.

Please join me in welcoming our newest Flying Clouders:

Lights on the Meadow

Moose on the Mountain

Moonlight

River Goes Forth

Kindred Flicker

Sunlit Pool

Bounding Fox

And Vince, the counselor of Kingfisher lodge, received the name..

Holds the Tide

May their names serve as both an affirmation of character and a reminder of the greatness within them.

Currently, Flying Cloud is out on our four-day long trips. The four trips this session are Breadloaf hiking, Pico to Little Rock Pond hiking, Raquette River canoeing, and our Woodward Service trip.

Check back soon for more stories of life at Flying Cloud.

Until then,

— CW
