Closing Out Flying Cloud Summer Camp 2016 - Farm & Wilderness

Written by Pam Podger | August 03, 2016

Who speaks for Flying Cloud?

“Flying Cloud creates a community that is hard to replicate outside of your own family.”

“Thank you for sharing this summer with me. I’ll always remember you guys.”

“I hear a lot of talk about Flying Cloud being a home away from home. But Flying Cloud is my home.”

These and many other voices were raised in the sweetness of parting as we bid a bittersweet farewell to the campers from the first session. The closing friendship fire is very much a culmination of the myriad experiences of the past session, and Flying Clouders, both young and old, are invited to exchange their take on the camp. Listening to the entire community go on about their collective love for this place and its people is enough to make you wish for a summer without end. But part of what makes our time together here so wonderful is it’s fleeting beauty. And besides, it’s not like the summer’s over yet.

After all, there’s still the second session.

Today our woodland home, depleted by the exodus of the campers in the first session, was once again filled to the brim with rare and special people. What will they do here? How will they take ownership of this space? I cannot say. One adventure ends, another begins. Such is life at Flying Cloud.

May your life be filled with happy endings and exciting beginnings!
