Notes from Sunday Silent Meeting - Farm & Wilderness

Written by Kory Mathis | July 07, 2009

Late though it may be, i wanted to paraphrase some of what campers and staff say at Silent Meeting. Last Sunday was especially wonderful as we were treated to the bright sun streaming down through trees that roared and shook in the wind.

“I just wish I could bottle this feeling and keep it”

“For all the time I have been at Timberlake, which is three days, I really have felt very at home”

“I realized for the first time today what a beautiful place we are living in”

“I just put my hand down into the mud and when I looked at it, the mud was shiny. I guess that says a lot about this place, when even the mud is special”

“At school they teach you that trees are alive, but it’s just words in books. Here you can look up at the trees and see the way they move in the wind and you KNOW that they really are alive”
