"Everything happened, just in time" - Farm & Wilderness

Written by Kory Mathis | July 07, 2009

Today was meant to be our Interdependence Day Celebration, where we gather all the camps together. The weather forecasts were dismal.

At twelve noon it was thunder storming. To make the final decision we waited until 4pm, one hour before an early dinner. The sun came out, we put our plan into action, grabbed our instruments and props and headed in a long parade down to the Farm and Wilderness Fairgrounds. As the last songs and skits ended, we heard the rumble of distant thunder. We had just enough time for one huge circle dance, and with the first flash of lighting over the hills we grouped together and all made it back to the upper lodge for ice cream and songs, and doing the evening dishes (Lumberjack cabin on the Hobart and pots!) before bed. An unpredictable day, but a great one.
