A Day in the Life

Family camp begins with stretching, giggling, singing -and breakfast! Silent Meeting follows. It is a time for quiet reflection that helps set the pace for the day and builds a sense of community. Some children, even very young ones, find that they love the silence of these meetings, while others prefer to leave with a few pre-designated adults, who will stand up 5-15 minutes into Meeting and lead the children to a "Talking Meeting."

Daily activities at Family Camp are intentionally structured so that participants and staff plan activities and adventures together. This helps to ensure that everyone gets to do the activity that he or she may have been been waiting all year to do!

Each night there is an all-camp activity for campers of all ages. After that activity (games, skits, campfires, contra dances etc.), there is about an hour to allow parents to put their kids to bed or organize the evening’s child-care. This short break is often followed by additional organized or spontaneous activities for adults and older kids. With no laundry or homework to do, this also can be a wonderfully sweet time to simply hang out and unwind.
