Barn Day Camp Parent Comments (we don’t ask Barn campers because of their ages):

PROGRAM — What were some of the program highlights?

The fact that she was outdoors in such a beautiful setting all day; she definitely learned to appreciate nature and animals more because of the Barn’s emphasis on these. Also the gardening was a great experience – to see something grow, cared for by campers, and able to pick + eat ii at the end! Swimming was the Best.

All of it. She loved the songs. / He loved digging holes

He loved the swimming lesson & built a tremendous amount of self confidence in the water. Canoeing and the camp-out were other highlights for him.

The overnight trip, climbing skills, all-girl group, doing hikes to IB & TF for adventure course and wall – everything was great!

My child loved the overnight, seemed to be well prepared for it and completely ready for the community building parts of it as well – the friends, the singing, the common experience.

My son is like a walking yard sale that has exploded! The counselors were able to keep his things from getting lost and ruined. Congratulations – I can’t even do that!

STAFF — How would you describe the quality of the care, leadership, and teaching demonstrated by the counselors and senior staff this summer? Please explain.

They were awesome! We as parents loved their commitment, gentleness and enthusiasm.

Excellent; very caring – overall, excellent. I didn’t have an opportunity to observe the counselors in action too much however, because we leave during all-camp circle time and return the same. So I am just assuming based on what my daughter says that counselors are very good at what they do, love the kids, and are good at giving the kids the opportunity to try new things.

Her counselors were great – warm, friendly, approachable, both from my perspective & from my daughter’s.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE — Please comment on how the Barn Day Camp experience impacted your child, your family.

My son rarely bubbles with joy. He is even tempered and reserved. He came home from F&W everyday with stories to tell and experiences to share. He gained confidence in himself. It was a wonderful metamorphosis to watch!

Very positive – we had to actually pry him out of the car on 1st day; now he’s talking about coming back next year.

It’s a center of her life – and now she’s ready for IB.

When my kids were happy, I was happy! I got two weeks to work on my own, knowing my kids were stimulated, safe, learning new skills.

He had a fabulous time – he met wonderful kids his age & spent a lot of time in the water. Felt connected & it saved him from going to work w/Mom!
