Facilities
Farm & Wilderness is located in south-central Vermont, nestled in a beautiful verdant valley near the village of Plymouth. Four of F&W’s camps (Timberlake, Indian Brook, Tamarack Farm and The Barn Day Camp) are located on 600 acres next to Woodward Reservoir, a clear and cool lake perfect for swimming and boating. Flying Cloud and Saltash Mountain are located ten miles south of the main F&W campus.
At the heart of each of F&W’s camps are a main lodge building and program buildings, surrounded by rustic open-air cabins. Meals are eaten in the lodges, in open-sided dining shelters, or, when the schedule and weather permit, outside on the lawn. Each camp has a commerical kitchen approved and inspected yearly by the Vermont Department of Health. Water sources are tested three times each summer, and the camps are all inspected and certified by the American Camping Association.
Each camp is set in its own beautiful pocket of Vermont, with meadows and woods for exploring, a waterfront for swimming, and a vegetable garden, and all the camps but Flying Cloud have a variety of farm animals. Fresh organic produce and eggs from the farms are a valued component of camp meals.
Campers live in open-air cabins, most of which were at least partly built by campers of summers past. There is no electricity in the cabin areas, except at the shower houses. At Flying Cloud campers also live in tipis and yurts. Composting toilets, shower facilities, and handwashing stations are located nearby each cabin.
During the non-camp seasons, the Tamarack Farm, Timberlake and Indian Brook camp facilities are available for rental for weekend retreats, weddings, reunions, parties, and other group events. Read more details about the camp facilities and their availability for off-season rental on our Facilities Rental Calendar.
