Outdoor Education
Living, working and traveling with ease outdoors is integral to life at Farm & Wilderness. Our Education Program teaches participants the skills they will need to survive, be comfortable and even thrive while enjoying activities such as:
Hiking
The Plymouth Valley is a wonderful location to take advantage of the many hiking adventures that start right on Farm & Wilderness property. There are trails to suit any ability, from ridge hikes to nature trails.
Rock Climbing
Students can learn the basic climbing skills on our indoor climbing wall and climbing chimneys as well as our bouldering sites. Our goal is to have the climbing experience help students discover they can be successful. Rock climbing assists students in discovering their own limits, fears, strengths and abilities.
Boating
Canoeing is a great way to explore the Woodward Reservoir. Paddle to the beaver dam and the floating bog with its abundance of natural wonders and breadth of beauty in the surrounding valley.
Backpacking
Some of our program participants will have the opportunity to take everything they need on their backs and head out for a night or two into the “backcountry,” away from roads, cars, and buildings. Backpacking is an incredible way to learn self-reliance, endurance, outdoor skills and creative ingenuity.
Evening Programs
End a special day with a special evening: Night-time activities include: Contra dancing, nature and sensory walks, campfires, roasting marshmallows, stargazing, or an evening of storytelling.
