Our Farm & Forests

Farm & Wilderness offers program participants unique opportunities to participate in farming and live in the wilderness, all on our own facilities.

Our certified organic farm is a diversified vegetable and animal operation, located at Tamarack Farm campus during the school year and spread among small farmletts at each camp during the summer.  Our animal herd includes dairy cows, goats, sheep, broiler chickens, laying hens, and pigs. Each summer camp has a vegetable garden, maintained, harvested and eaten by campers. Throughout the year, program participants learn to process farm products such as wool and milk. Farm chores are an important community task taken up by all.

Farm & Wilderness stewards approximately 4000 acres of land in Plymouth and Mt Holly, Vermont, in some cases as sole steward, in others in collaboration with other nonprofit groups. This wealth of preserved forest is used by all our programs. Campers and school groups are able to experience full immersion in the woods, without interruption from human development. In our programs, participants explore, caretake, and live in the woods.
