Spend your summer at one of our rustic, simple-living summer camps, where we focus on community, home grown fun and living closely with the natural world. Working at Farm & Wilderness is an exciting learning opportunity for exceptional persons of all backgrounds. Working side-by-side, staff guide campers through fun-filled, adventurous, and educational programs that change people's lives-campers and staff alike!
Join our community to guide campers as they walk on quiet trails through New England forests, plant and harvest gardens full of healthy, organic vegetables, build and maintain buildings and trails, plunge into our refreshing lakes and ponds, learn what it means to be in community outside their homes and families, sit together in quiet reflection and worship in Silent Meeting, eat good food around big tables or on the lawn, sing songs and create music, have fun exploring and discovering themselves in the mountains of Vermont.
Children's lives and futures change because of the experiences they have and the relationships they create here. All of this happens because campers are in the care of people with the skills and experience to know how to put the needs and interests of campers first. Each summer we hire nearly 230 staff, including: more than 100 Cabin Counselors; approximately 30 Senior Support Staff (assistant directors, program directors, lodge heads, & more), in addition we hire another 25 or more staff as Activity Heads for waterfront, barns & gardens, outdoor living skills, work projects, and more; approximately 25 Cooks & Kitchen Staff are hired to prepare and serve meals; in addition to 6 Nurses, we hire up to 8 Health Support Staff; and to round of our camp-specific staff, we hire up to 15 All Camp Staff to fill the roles of Drivers, Cooks Coordinator, Head Nurse, Office Support, Event Coordinator, and other key roles to keep our operations running smoothly.
Compensation includes a summer salary, room & board, and one day off per week. Working at F&W comes with countless benefits beyond monetary compensation. It means that you join a diverse group of people who take pride in learning, sharing ideas, and enjoy serving each other and the community.
We believe that our community is strengthened by diversity. We are an equal opportunity employer. We invite you to apply to be part of this rich tradition and community. Applicants should be conscientious, responsible, and community-minded people who value and enjoy working with children.
