Intern Application
For consideration as an Intern/Crew, you must submit a completed Intern Application and a copy of your resume.
Thank you for your interest in seasonal employment opportunities at Farm & Wilderness.
We are currently accepting applications for Spring 2012.
Farm & Wilderness employs Seasonal Staff throughout the year to maintain and improve our facilities, farms and forests. We call these interns and assistants "crew." The positions are both a job and an opportunity to acquire new skills by working with program, farm and resource staff in the areas of organic farming, maintenance, carpentry, and retreat. Positions for Seasonal Employment are hired according to the following basic date range:
Spring to Fall: April 1 to November 1
Winter : November 2 to March 31 (typically filled by Spring to Fall Crew)
Applicants may apply for one or more consecutive seasons. In some cases there is the potential for extending employment into the next season.
Farm Interns
Farm Interns assist the Farm and Garden Managers in the care of the barns and gardens. They also help administer program activities such as homesteading, crafting and food preservation within the summer camps and other programs. Throughout the internship, the Farm Crew will learn hands-on farm-based skills, facilitate farm activities and develop an understanding of community living. Interns will become strong leaders by developing connections to each other and the land through work, service and play. Interns will work in a beautiful wilderness and farm setting and learn innovative approaches toward learning, organic farming and environmental education. The Farm Intern position is a multi-season position starting in Spring (April 1) and ending in Fall (November 1).
Resource (Facilities) Assistants
The job of the Resource Assistants is to help develop and maintain the infrastructure of Farm & Wilderness as an educational foundation. Resource Assistants are under the supervision of the Resource Director and Year-round Resource Staff. Resource Assistants are stewards of our buildings, grounds and forests. Resource assistants help with the ongoing maintenance and repair of Farm & Wilderness buildings, grounds and equipment. The work includes plumbing, carpentry and various maintenance repair projects as well as driving (errands). Summer camp positions are available as maintenance staff at one of the six camps. Resource Assistants may also work with campers as work project staff.
Retreat Center Assistants
The Retreat Center Assistants host and coordinate logistics to create a memorable retreat experience for our clients. This includes tasks such as set up, meeting and greeting, group orientation, menu planning, cooking(with food from our organic farm), lifeguarding and handling any logistical concerns as they arise. Retreat center Assistants also play a critical role at Farm & Wilderness Work Weekend events in the Spring and Fall. Retreat Center Assistant positions run from mid April to early November.
