Seasonal Employment

Farm & Wilderness employs Seasonal Staff throughout the year to maintain and improve our facilities, farms and forests. We call these interns and assistants "crew." The positions are both a job and an opportunity to acquire new skills by working with program, farm and resource staff in the areas of organic farming, maintenance, carpentry, and retreat. Positions for Seasonal Employment are hired according to the following basic date range:

Winter 1: January 1 to March 31
Spring: April 1 to June 11
Summer: June 12 to August 20
Fall: August 21 to November 1
Winter 2: November 2 to December 31

Applicants may apply for one or more consecutive seasons. In some cases there is the potential for extending employment into the next season. For more information, please download the Intern and Assistant Crew Job Description.

Farm Interns

Farm Interns assist the Farm and Garden Managers in the care of the barns and gardens. They also help administer program activities such as homesteading, crafting and food preservation within the summer camps and other programs. Throughout the internship, the Farm Crew will learn hands-on farm-based skills, facilitate farm activities and develop an understanding of community living. Interns will become strong leaders by developing connections to each other and the land through work, service and play. Interns will work in a beautiful wilderness and farm setting and learn innovative approaches toward learning, organic farming and environmental education. The Farm Intern position is a multi-season position starting in Spring (April 1) and ending in Fall (November 1).
